Just
a redesign of the original TI-30X IIS introduced
already in 1999.
Please
compare both calculators and notice the changes:
Aluminum bezel around the display to match with the basic TI-1706SV, the graphing TI-84 Plus and the financial BA II PLUS Professional. More prominent nameplate like the TI-30XA. Key colors changed to a serious blue in blue like the TI-82 STATS. |
To discover the internal changes between the first and second
series of the TI-30X IIS, we dismantled them and found two different printed
circuit boards (PCB):
This early TI-30X IIS with the leading SR-16 designation was manufactured by Kinpo Electronics,
Inc., a famous company located in Taiwan and doing calculator production for well established companies like Texas Instruments, Hewlett Packard, Casio,
Canon and Citizen.
This redesigned TI-30X IIS
makes use of a totally different printed circuit board (PCB)
manufactured by Inventec
Shanghai.
The backside of the redesigned calculator reveals another
enhancement - a
small Reset key could be pushed with the tip of a paper clip.
From much higher
interest is the position of the Reset key - it differs between models purchased
in Canada and another one from the German market. Find more details about the TI-30X
IIS manufactured by Nam
Tai Electronics, Inc..
Recently we discovered the latest model of the TI-30X IIS in a wonderful purple
case manufactured by Kinpo Electronics, Inc. - get some pictures here.
More colors were available in 2007 from the retailer Target and the office
products supplier Office Depot. Don't miss the lime-green TI-30X
IIS and the pink TI-30X IIS.
Don't miss the redesigned TI-30X IIB, TI-34 II, TI-36X II, TI-40 Collge II, and BA II PLUS.
Texas Instruments complemented both the TI-30X IIB and TI-30X IIS with the next generation scientific calculators TI-30XB MultiView resp. TI-30XS MultiView in 2007. The successor of the TI-34 II was announced May 9, 2007, too but the TI-34 MultiView didn't hit the stores together with its siblings.
Stokes Publishing Company, Inc. based in Sunnyvale, California sold a companion for the teacher, view the wonderful TI-30X II Overhead Calculator.
In November 2024 the design of the TI-30X IIS was slightly changed - twenty-five years after its introduction.
