The service vessel caught fire in the Atlantic Ocean off Rio de Janeiro. Her crew were evacuated. She was subsequently towed in to Superporto do Açu.[11]
The motor barge suffered a steering failure in the Main near Aschaffenburg, Germany and became wedged at the entrance of a lock whilst avoiding an allision with the passenger shipAmadeus Silver II (Germany). Kerstin was refloated with assistance from the motor barges Käthe Krieger and Henneburg (both Germany).[13]
The 44.39-ton catamaran sank about 1.6 nautical miles (3.0 km) north of Koh Racha Yai, Thailand, south of Phuket. 38 people, including 33 Chinese tourists, were rescued.[15]
The 24.5-metre (80 ft), 115-ton, roll-on/roll-off survey vessel suffered engine failure and went adrift. MTS Terramare was pushed by 0.91-to-1.52-metre (3 to 5 ft) waves until she washed up on the beach at high tide in St. Brides Bay off Newgale Beach, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Her crew evacuated onto the beach.[16]
The 55-foot (17 m) trawler was sunk due to hull damage in a collision with the scalloper Vanquish (United States) in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of Block Island, Rhode Island in foul weather.[26]
The 20-metre (66 ft) fishing vessel ran aground on a reef in the Adriatic Sea 250 metres (820 ft) off the beach just west of Cesenatico, Italy, and capsized over onto her starboard side partially submerged.[28]
Two fishing vessels, the 32-ton Samgwangho and the 27-ton Manseonho, ran aground at the same place on rocks 500 metres (1,600 ft) off Rabbit Island in Gujwa-eup, Jeju City in stormy weather. The captain of Samgwangho and a crewman of Manseonho suffered heart attacks and later died.[30][31]
The 53-metre (174 ft) pinisi motor sail vessel sank in the Pacific Ocean 12 miles (19 km) off Sorong, Southwest Papua, Indonesia, after engine failure.[33]
The 18-metre (59 ft) fishing vessel sank approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) southeast of Sambro, Nova Scotia. Of the four crew aboard the vessel, three were rescued, with one of the three dying in hospital later. The fourth crewmember was found deceased in a life raft at sea.[34]
The 43-metre (141 ft), 139-ton fishing vessel capsized and sank in 80 metres (260 ft) of water about 17 kilometres (11 mi) east of Habaek Island, about 315 kilometres (196 mi) south of Seoul, South Korea. Of the 14 crew, four crew, including her captain, died, and five crew were reported missing.[38][39]
The 14-metre (46 ft), 32-ton fishing vessel capsized approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) southwest of Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju Island, South Korea. Five of the ten crew were rescued.[40][41]
The container ship was driven aground at Wild Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, west of Lark Harbour after losing power by severe weather conditions with winds exceeding 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph) and waves reaching 6 metres (20 ft) high.[45]
The 58-foot (18 m) fishing vessel ran aground after springing a leak, listed and sank partially submerged at Napier Point, just south of Bella Bella, British Columbia, Canada. All four crew were rescued. The vessel was refloated on 26 February.[50]
The research vessel capsized and sank at dock near Novorossiysk, Russia, due to icing during a winter storm. The wreck is expected to be raised in early 2025.[51]
A cargo ship reportedly collided with a Chinese ship and sank off the coast of China in the Yellow Sea in late February. Reportedly 15 to 20 crew were killed while a few others were rescued by China.[52]
The fishing vessel capsized and sank due to the heavy seas and strong winds in the South China Sea near Bến Tre province, Vietnam. All four crew were rescued from the water.[53]
The 82-metre (269 ft), 1,842-ton cargo ship ran aground on mud flats off the coast of Brough in the Humber Estuary near Welton, England. Refloated on 15 March.[54][55]

A pleasure vessel sank after taking on water near Punta Barú. Thirty people were rescued by the Colombian Navy and 12 by a civilian vessel operating near the Rosario Islands.[58]
The 16-metre (52 ft) passenger speedboat sank from a cracked hull caused by large swells in the Andaman Sea near Koh Poda Nok off Krabi province, Thailand. Twenty-eight passengers plus crew were rescued.[61]
The tankerStena Immaculate was run into at anchor by the container shipSolong in the North Sea off Withernsea, East Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Both ships caught fire and were abandoned by their crews. A crew member of Solong was reported missing.[63]
The 32-metre (105 ft), 347-ton tugboat was sunk in a collision with the container ship A. Idefix (Malta) in the Pacific Ocean off Callao, Peru.[64][65]
The 44-metre (144 ft) fishing vessel caught fire in the Pacific Ocean roughly 860 nautical miles (1,590 km; 990 mi) off La Serena, Chile. She capsized and sank after her 19 crew abandoned ship.[67]
The 30-metre (98 ft), 503-ton tugboat sprung a leak and sank mostly submerged at her berth in Veracruz, Mexico. She is expected to be raised.[68]

A boat capsized off the southeastern coast of Cyprus while transporting an unknown number of migrants. The bodies of seven deceased migrant persons and two survivors were recovered by Cyprus' search and rescue teams.[69]

The fishing vessel sank after a fire at the Wellfleet marina in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The fire also severely damaged the town’s deteriorating wooden L-pier. No casualties were reported.[83]
The 233-foot (71 m) ro-ro passenger ferry collided with a dolphin on her portside hull in the Nantucket Sound while departing the harbor for a voyage to Hyannis, Massachusetts, on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts. No injuries or significant damage were reported and the ship was able to proceed on her normal service.[84]
The 48.8-metre (160 ft) German passenger ship sprung a leak and became flooded in the Baltic Sea near Kühlungsborn, Germany. The local fire brigade took out all of the water using dewatering pumps. No casualties were reported.[85]
The 82-metre (269 ft) barge caught fire on the Western Scheldt while berthed in Terneuzen, Zeeland, Netherlands. The local fire brigade were able to extinguish the fire. No casualties were reported.[86]
The decommissioned 90-foot (27 m) tugboat was sunk as an artificial reef 12 miles (19 km) south of Panama City, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico in 97 feet (30 m) of water.[88]
The 350-metre (1,148 ft) container ship ran aground and nearly struck a wall in the English Channel at Southampton, England. Tugboats were able to pull the ship free. No injuries were reported and the ship went back en route to Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands.[89]
The 161-metre (528 ft) German container ship caught on fire and exploded in the North Sea while travelling from Hamburg, Germany, to Rotterdam west of Scheveningen, South Holland, Netherlands. None of the nineteen crew were injured.[90]
The 91-metre (299 ft) cargo vessel transporting a cargo of animal feed sailing from IJmuiden in North Holland, Netherlands, ran aground while trying to enter the port of Teignmouth in River Teign, Teignmouth, Devon, England. In the evening, tugboats were able to pull the vessel free. No damage or casualties were reported.[91][92]
The 86-foot (26 m) scallop fishing vessel ran aground and sank near Green Island, Boston Harbor, Massachusetts, with the vessel reporting a maximum potential discharge of 4,000 US gallons (15,000 L; 3,300 imp gal) of diesel fuel and 50 US gallons (190 L; 42 imp gal) of lube oil. The three crew were rescued by the United States Coast Guard Northeast Sector without injury.[93]
The wooden boat en voyage from Matankumu to Bolomba carrying around 400 people caught fire and capsized on the Congo River near Mbandaka, Democratic Republic of the Congo, killing at least 148 people and leaving hundreds more missing.[96]
The 144-metre (472 ft), 20,421-ton dredger capsized in the Mindoro Strait off Barangay Malawaano, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. Six crewman were killed, and five others were reported missing.[97][98]
The 32-metre (105 ft) tugboat sank in the Río de la Plata Punta in the Indio Channel near the Banco Chico reef off Argentina after springing a leak in a storm. At the time she was pushing the barge 240-4, her crew escaping to the barge. The barge was later cut loose.[100]
