Rhymes:English/uːd

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Pronunciation

[edit]

enPR: -o͞od, IPA(key): /-uːd/

Notes

[edit]
  • For more rhymes, add d, ed or 'd to some words at -uː.
  • In Scottish English, however, words in which -d is part of the word stem are pronounced /ʉd/ (e.g. crude), those in which it is an ending are pronounced /ʉːd/ (e.g. crewed). Such pairs accordingly constitute only impure rhymes.
  • In dialects with the FOOT–GOOSE merger, words ending in /ʊd/ are also rhymes, with the above caveat in the case of Scottish English. See Rhymes ending in -ʊd for these words.
