1. (transitive) to desire, fancy, want, long for something

   Synonyms: vágyik, akar, sóvárog

   Nem kívánom az édességet. ― I don't want sweets.

2. (transitive) to wish somebody something (what is wished requires accusative case -t/-ot/-at/-et/-öt; the person requires dative case -nak/-nek)

   Sok szerencsét kívánunk neked! ― We wish you lots of luck!

3. (transitive) to expect, require, demand, call for (the person expected to do something is expressed with -tól/-től)

   Synonyms: megkíván, követel, igényel, elvár
