On the kinetics of Ag-Ti alloy oxidation
Abstract
The kinetics of Ag-Ti alloy oxidation has been studied and the accelerative influence of silver established. A formal approach for its description is proposed, assuming a role of Ag as original atomizer of the oxygen molecules. The predicted kinetic law is confirmed by the experimental results obtained for oxidation of Ag-Ti alloys (0-80 at. % Ag) at 900-1100 K. The values of the rate constant, activation energy and pre-exponential factor as well as their dependencies on the alloy composition are also derived.
