Note: Members of a genus containing two living species of amphibious rodents native to North America, Europe, and Asia. Beavers have short legs, a stout body, a small, broad, blunt head, large chisel-shaped incisor teeth, a broad, oval, horizontally-flattened, scaly tail, palmated hind feet, and a coat of soft fur. They are distinguished by their ability to chew through trunks and cut down trees, constructing huts of mud and wood for habitation, and dams for preserving a supply of water. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 含兩種現存兩棲囓齒類動物的屬,原產於北美洲、歐洲與亞洲。海貍腿短;身形粗壯;頭型小、寬而鈍;門齒大,型如鑿子;尾巴寬,呈橢圓形,橫向扁平,帶鱗;後腳有蹼;皮毛柔軟。特色為能咬斷樹幹、砍倒樹木的能力,以泥漿與木枝建屋居住,也會築水壩貯存供水。 |
