Hello Maurits,
This is more of a request than it is an actual issue, but I think the value in this request is really high (for newcomers, especially - but not limited to).
Could you please add a COMPLETE application example of using the API (with user authentication, maybe even with the user-creation SQL script, table authorization, etc).
This would be really really helpful as a quickstart /

When you try to use a column of type JSON, tegola fails:

util.go:155: 114 type is not supported. (Expected it to be a stringer type)
map.go:202: err fetching tile (z: 7, x: 64, y: 46) features: for layer (cities-point) unable to convert field [3] (string) of type (114 - json) to a suitable value: map[dates:map[2017:3044 2018:4] simplified:[]]

It would be awesome if it could be supported

In order to determine the properties of a geometry column, the OID::Spatial#parse_sql_type method is called in the SchemaStatements#initialize_type_map method for geometry types. This method parses a sql_type (ex. "geometry(Polygon,4326)") and derives the geo_type, srid, has_z, has_m, and geographic properties from the string.

I created a report (#182) because, as a newbie to Mapwarper, I didn't realize how to enter lat-long manually for the control points. I was confused by the GUI - I didn't understand what I was seeing. Here is what ran through my mind when I first saw the Rectify page after importing my PNG file:
