Wire iOS - UI navigation improvements

We’re excited to roll out a set of major UI improvements on iOS that will enhance the way you interact with your messages. From new gesture controls to refined conversation layouts, here’s everything you need to know about the latest updates.

Navigation Improvements 

• • Multimedia conferencing : We’ve consolidated the audio and video call icons into one combined calling icon. You always start with an audio call and can then turn your camera on.

  • Enhanced Search & Conversation Details: Searching and accessing conversation details is now easier. Select the conversation name, and you get quick access to search functionality and detailed conversation settings, all in one place.

  • User Identification at a Glance: It is important  to know who you're talking to. That's why you can see clear indicators for guests, external contacts, and federated users. Whether it’s a one-time guest or someone from another team, you’ll always know who you're conversing with.

Swipe Gestures for Faster Interaction

   👈 Swipe Left to React : Quickly react to messages with a simple left swipe.

    👉Swipe Right to Reply: Reply instantly to messages with a right swipe.

Conversation Spacing & Padding Enhancements 

• • Group Conversations by Date and time:  Conversations are now neatly grouped by date and time. This update makes it easier to follow the conversation flow and reduces confusion.

  • Read Receipts Simplified: Instead of text, read receipts now appear as concise icons, saving space in your conversation.

  • Timestamps: Timestamps are now located at the footer of the message, keeping the focus on the messages themselves. Additionally, only the first message in a conversation sequence will display a timestamp, reducing clutter and ensuring that your messages are the main focus. This change greatly reduces scrolling effort, especially in long conversations.

  • Improved Spacing & Padding: We’ve optimized the spacing between messages, read receipts, and profile pictures, making your conversations cleaner and more organized.

Collapsing Your Own Messages 

• Power User Feature: For users who send long, detailed messages in group chats, you now have the option to collapse your own messages via a global setting. This feature helps you declutter your view and reduce scrolling effort, making it easier to focus on other parts of the conversation without being distracted by your own long messages.

• Expand and Collapse: If you want to view your message again, simply click to expand it. Long press to collapse it again, keeping your chat experience tidy and efficient.
