Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Central U.S.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are forecast over parts of Kansas, Oklahoma, and west Texas today and tonight, with damaging winds and large hail possible. The upper-level high pressure will continue through Thursday morning with clear skies and warm dry conditions. Thursday evening into Saturday, a shortwave trough will then approach from OR coast to the interior Northwest with rain, light high mountain snow, and gusty winds at 25-35 mph. There is also a slight chance (<30%) of isolated thunderstorms on Friday as well. Sunday, showers and light high mountain snow may linger with gusty winds up to 35 mph or above as the trough passes.
