Biography
Kurt was born in 1900[1][2] to Albert Weill and Emma, née Ackermann. He began taking piano lessons aged twelve and began writing music from a young age, later becoming a noted composer.
He married Lotte Lenya, his long time collaborator, on 28 Jan 1926 and though they divorced in 1933, they remarried in 1937.
He emigrated to the United States in 1935[3] and became a naturalized US citizen in 1937.[1][2]
